Contao 2.9.1 is available

Contao version 2.9.1 is available. The maintenance release includes an important front end cache fix, a front end preview link fix and various accessibility fixes. It also fixes an XSS vulnerability in one of the framework functions, so an update is highly recommended.

TYPOlight becomes Contao

Since the name TYPOlight has repeatedly led to misunderstandings and false assumptions regarding the system's potential and range of functions, the TYPOlight project has changed its name to Contao Open Source CMS. Everything else remains the same.

Contao actually has a meaning and is not a pure fantasy name. The Vietnamese word "tạo" means "to form", "to create", "to shape". The term "con tạo" means "fate", "the creator". The "con" in Contao may also be interpreted as an abbreviation for "Content", so the name is ideal for a system that creates content.

Live update service

The Contao live update service is an affordable third party service provided by iNet Robots Ltd. & Co. KG. It allows you to update your installation with a only few clicks in the back end and without having to download an archive or to use an FTP client to upload new files. With the extension repository, you can easily install and maintain Contao extensions in the back end at the push of a button (from version 2.6.2). The extension repository has been developed by Peter Koch.
